Going Down?

Synopsis:
Have you ever taken a long elevator ride with a few strangers and wondered who they were and what they were about? While three people hold an elevator for a mysterious fourth person they learn far more than they care to about each other.

Development History:
This 10-min play was written while I was revising my novel, For Luck. I look forward to having Going Down? read at a development workshop in 2012.

Baby You Can Drive My Car

Synopsis:
We live hours, weeks, and years in our cars. Our cars provide us with a sense of anonymity between the rest of the world and ourselves. Sometimes this perception spills over into the car itself, and we find ourselves saying things we wouldn't otherwise say. Many conversations happen - and don't happen - simply because we're trapped in such a confined space.

Development History:

This collection was developed in part in the Theatre Artists Studio's Writers Circle. The collection was workshopped at Space55 Ensemble Theatre. Pumpkin Pie was selected by a jury for a workshop production in the 2008 Holiday Festival: "Seasonings!" at the Theatre Artists Studio. Many thanks to Hal Corley for his critical eye and supportive guidance.

Miller's Way

Synopsis:
After a horrible event, Miller and Cassie find themselves barely able to be in the same room together. In those painful moments of loss and chaos when we can't talk to each other, we clear the table and wash the dishes. Sometimes sweeping the floor is the best we can do. Miller and Cassie busy themselves while searching for sentences to fill in the blanks.

Developmental History:
This 10-minute play was read in the Playwright's Showcase at Space55 and continues in development with the Writers' Forum.

Way Home

Synopsis:
Mom, Dad and college-age son are on their way home from an evening out celebrating with friends. Dad and son have been drinking; Mom is driving. With very open-ended dialogue and unusual character composites, this 10-minute play leaves a lot of room for interpretation.

Development History:
This 10-Min play was written in 2009 and developed in both Kim Porter's Writing for the Stage Workshop and the Writers' Forum at Space55.
